Best news I’ve heard yet.

Teahen on the trading block (protected) according to Gammons. Thanks MLBTR.

I’ve been calling this for years, but it has taken the Royals too long to figure it out. Mark Teahen is a Major League player, but his mediocarcy and overhyped ability in key positions is killing this Royals team. If he came up in any other organization he would of been in AAA, refining his approach at the plate and figuring out what kind of hitter he is. Instead, he was called up way too early and put into 3 and 4 spots in the lineup based on potenital and a freakish half season of power. His hitting approach is inconsistant laughable at times. Swinging early to prevent getting in a 0-2 count. Also, swinging at anything inside because a lack of knowldge of the inside strikezone. How many times do we have to see Teahen strikeout with the bases loaded this year? He’s 0 for 6 in those situations and batting .242 in RISP overall. He’s not an RBI machine, but a perfect 7 or 8 hitter for the Boston Redsox or Altana Braves. It would be sad to see him excel with another team, but the comments made about how “valuable” he is to the team for the different positions he played for the Royals, is a cover-up for saying “you just don’t hit good enough to secure your own spot”.

These Royals players need to be accountable too, as Dayton has said in the past. Mark Teahen has progressive got worse in every batting statistic, except homeruns, since 2006. He is making $3,575,000 this year. I don’t think his hussle and sarcastic jokes make up for that.

This series versus the “weakest-division-NL-Central” St. Louis Cardinals is uber important. But with a Royals god-awful offense that hits better with nobody on-base (.249) than the bases loaded (.167), figure that one out, we pray that Pujols hits solo shots and not with the bases juiced. Though it seems that the Royals have a slight advantage with tonight’s game. MLB.com Gameday Preview is quoted as saying,

“Wellemeyer’s struggles remain a puzzling problem for the Cardinals…”

The reason this is an advantage for the Royals is because they know he sucks (ie. 2007) and the Cards still think he’s going to throw under a 4.00 ERA. But he’ll probably throw a non-hitter now that I said that.

On the bright side, Manny is now eligible for the prestigious Preforming Enhancing Drugs Hall of Fame. Being inducted would give him the privilege of joining other large headed, acne covered, impotent men that strive to ruin their bodies for a couple years of fame and big contracts.

If Manny is voted in, he will join a long list of PED Hall of Famers who have dabbled and abused PEDs in their careers. Big names such as Barry Bonds, Rafael Palmeiro, Lawrence Taylor, the 2000 Kansas City Royals (including Ray Sanchez), and anybody who calls themselves a “Professional Wrestler” are dedicated members.

PED HOFer Great, Neifi Perez, was quoted as saying, “It would be a honor to have Manny join our group and do our laundry.” Neifi, a 3-time PED user, was suspended for 80 games after testing positive for a third time for a banned stimulant. Not many have achieved such PED greatness.

After a comeback win in Minnesota that the Royals never did in previous years against Scott “Cy Young” Baker, the internet community gave high fives and butt slaps to Bloomquist, Guillen, Callaspo, and even Meche for not pussin’ out with back problems. All props are well deserved and valid, but the star of the game was not mentioned once. Yes, Alberto Callaspo (my drinking buddy) hit the game leading double to break the game wide open in the 7th and made the 1st out at 3rd base which is a major no-no, but reading signs and speaking English are not his strong points, so I’m going to let it slide. But the biggest play of the game was made before Alberto took the first pitch.

Flashback: Alberto walks to the plate. Jacobs is on second and DeJesus is on first. Nobody out. Minnesota is leading 5-4. Royals are on the road and have a hitter who has 1 career homerun. What do you do? Bunt him right? Wrong. 1st Pitch, bunt sign off. 6 pitches later, Alberto gets a 3-2 fastball and drives it to the gap.

The star of the game is the coach, Trey “Hairy-balls” Hillman for not putting on the bunt and allowing Callaspo to swing away. Say what you may about our hairy little friend’s bad bullpen decisions, but don’t be shy to give credit where it’s due.

Anyway, the Kansas City Sports Podcast is going to be there, will you? We will have our own beer Buck Night in the parking lot and then stuff our faces inside.
